UN Global Compact Leaders discuss the role of business in global development

The UN Global Compact Leaders Summit 2017 will take place on September, 21 in New York. It is one of the largest world's corporate social responsibility initiatives. The summit is timed to the General Assembly's regular sessions.

The summit agenda is similar to the topics that are discussed at the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly: conflict prevention, migration, human rights, sustainable development, climate change and promoting equality.

According to organizers, the main goal of the Global Compact Leaders Summit is to help business achieve goals of sustainable development, both locally and globally. It is discussed specific mechanisms that allow to change the status quo and customary approaches to running a business in order to reach stated goals.

Alexander Plakida, Deputy Chairman of the Board of ACIG Group of Companies, Managing Partner of Alliance Consulting, takes part in the summit as a member of the National UN Global Compact network in Russia.

United Nations Global Compact is a UN initiative aimed at promoting the social responsibility of business and provision of reports on the implementation of these policies. At present, there are 88 national networks operating in the world that attract more than 13,000 participants from 170 countries. The UN Global Compact network consists of more than 75 companies and public organizations in Russia.
